If December, 2012 is the end of the world as predicted by the Mayan Calendar, Bible, etc. then at least that means, if Abrams is diligent, we can squeeze in seeing the complete trilogy of the new Trek films before we have to bend down and kiss our collective asses goodbye. Sweet!

Actually, their involvement with Bay is the single most worrisome aspect of this project to me. Bay, who I don’t need to tell you brought us such lowbrow, short attention span fare as Pearl Harbor, Armageddon and The Rock, has only made one movie that was watchable (The Island). Even that quickly devolved into a mishmash of car chases, flying bullets and explosions. If they are working with him so much, is this what we have to look forward to?

2012: war of souls is a misleading title. Read the 1st part, called The Greys. Pretty good read.

X-Files 2 must be released befor 2012 because wthin in x-files chronology the year 2012 is where the colonisation of earth is going to start!

Mike Bay making an “end of the world” movie? Wow…

My hope for the Star Trek film is *in spite* of the work these two have done for Bay. “The Island” was a stinker, and the script that’s making the rounds for “Transformers” is pretty bad - honestly, if that thing makes any money it will be because moviegoers are somehow mesmerized by the sight of trucks turning into giant robots and hitting one another.

Not that I think another X-Files movie will ever see the light of day, but the way things are going in Hollywood, perhaps that’s something I should be thankful for. I have to have at least one of the two Sci-Fi universes I love left intact.

“The X-Files, Re-Imagined” , Krycek is played by The Rock, Scully is played by Jessica Simpson, Mulder is Kevin Federline, Purity Control is actually a human Terrorist plot, and the people in the Pentagon are paragons of virtue that actually aren’t keeping any secrets from Americans about alien life.

Oh…and don’t forget the ’splosions.

The Island was a pretty good movie … very good, actually, considering it’s a Michael Bay film (his movies generally suck, IMO). Pearl Harbor, Armageddon, and the Bad Boys films (the second more than the first) were completely pointless and just plain… crappy. The Rock was pretty good, also, but I think I liked The Island better.

As for Orci and Kurtzman’s writing, their work on Alias was great, from what I hear. I was never a fan of the Hercules/Xena shows. I heard The Legend of Zorro sucked, but I thought Mission: Impossible III was awesome. As for the script for The Transformers that’s been going around, I have also heard it was terrible but it was also a very early draft of some dozen or so rewrites, IIRC. Nonetheless, it will probably be a stinker just given the fact that Bay is directing. A blockbuster stinker, but a stinker nonetheless. I’ll still check it out, though; I loved the cartoon and am interested to see how the Transformers are handled on-screen.

I’ve only heard bits and pieces of this 2012 novel, so I can’t really comment on it. Again, though, with Bay at the reins there’s a pretty good chance it won’t be that great… just another brainless summer special effects fest.
